"They love it, and it shows”
Five Stars

This is the second time we have stayed here for Easter - my wife and I with our two children, who are now 11 and 4. We cycled from Thomastown - keep off the busy main road if you do so! The quiet little roads are a joy to cycle on. And the landscape is a pleasure for someone like me who takes far too many photographs.

We greatly valued the friendly and helpful attitude of the owner, Francis, who clearly love the place and enjoy their guests. The cottages are simple and comfortable, and easy to keep clean too. The children loved the animals - hens, peacocks, guinea fowl, pigs, goats, cattle, sheep and, of course, the two dogs.

We have every hope of coming back before too long.

“When I think of Peace & Relaxation I Think Croan Cottages”
Five Stars

We arrived on a cold afternoon in late December 2009. Quickly greeted by Francis, who had the cottage well aired and warm for us, plus the makings of a fire. Her husband Francis came to welcome us and made sure we were warm and comfortable due to the weather conditions. Sadly we left a day early again due to the weather conditions, but the walks the peace and the beauty of this place will have us coming back in the Summer.

Thank you so much for a lovely weekend. The cottages are beautiful, and appointed with everything we could possibly have needed. You are very lucky to live in such a beautiful location.

It was great to be able to inject a bit of country into the lungs of my citified children - at least now they know that sheep don't come from the farm-in-a-van!

Thanks again - we will definitely be in touch to arrange another visit.

We had a great 5 days at the cottages last week and we all enjoyed the rest and relaxation.
It was great and your father -in -law was brilliant. We had some great chats with him about gardening.
We hope to get down next year and that time we hope to bring the son, daughter in law and the grandchildren. thank you again for your hospitality

Very nice, comfortable cottage with a contemporary feel. The decor was clean and fresh...
The cottage is situated in a courtyard in a group of five, behind the main house, and this was very well laid out and pleasant.
There are extensive grounds for guests to use, and the hens, dogs etc. roaming free on site add to the experience.
Because of the rural location, you really feel that you are in the middle of nowhere, but local villages are easily accessible within minutes and the nearest large town, Kilkenny, is only about 20 minutes drive away, so the cottage is ideally located.
The host, Francis, was extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him.

We really had a lovely weekend, my only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. The cottages are just so homely and relaxing; thank you for the experience

What our Guests say

Ishbel Scotland

Hugh and I stayed in Beech Cottage from 10th to 17th March. We both enjoyed our time there so very much. A beautiful and welcoming place. Loved the dogs being around and watching the Peacocks roaming about.
